Meet Drawdown Brewing Company: a LGBTQ+ and Woman-Owned Brewery in Jamaica Plain

Drawdown Brewing is a LGBTQ+ and Woman-Owned Brewery in Jamaica Plain founded by Liz Nicol. Opening just last December, Drawdown is quickly becoming the go-to spot to watch and cheer on women's sports. We had the chance to connect with Liz to hear about her journey, the fierce competitiveness of women's sports, and her go-to local businesses to support.

"Women's sports are just as fiercely competitive and deserve the same amount of attention as the men's."

What led you to found Drawdown Brewing?

I hit a roadblock in my career and decided to start my own business instead of just finding another job. Opening a brewery seemed cooler than starting an engineering firm, so I set to work creating Drawdown. I ultimately wanted to create a community space with great beer that is welcoming to all people. Drawdown aims to be a fun, warm environment where guests have an enjoyable place to spend time with some quality beers, gather with friends and catch a game on TV.

Historic. Loyal. Strong.

Liz's Three Words to Describe Boston

What does NWSL Boston mean to you and our community?

Professional women's sports are huge. When I was a kid there weren't any professional leagues for women on TV. Now little girls playing sports have multiple leagues of successful female athletes to look up to. Visibility is huge, visibility can make all the difference. Women's sports are just as fiercely competitive and deserve the same amount of attention as the men's. The opportunity to get women’s soccer back into the city is exciting.
